Decadent Dreaming : Olivia von Halle Partners with Saint-Tropez’s Storied Hôtel La Ponche

This summer, Olivia von Halle partners with the Hôtel La Ponche in Saint-Tropez to celebrate the launch of their Autumn/ Winter 2023 collection.

The Azure Collection conjures the splendour of the French Riviera in the 1920s and 30s – paying homage to a bohemian jet set of artists and writers including Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Dora Maar, Man Ray and Jean Cocteau for whom the Côte d’Azur became a playground, backdrop, and endless source of creative inspiration.

Given the collection’s focus on the imaginative energies and nonchalant elegance of this glamorous era, a collaboration with a hotel famed for its free-spirited history and esteemed clientele is fitting. Beginning as a small fisherman’s hole-in-the-wall in 1938, Hôtel La Ponche welcomed a second wave of celebrities and intellectual luminaries in the 1950s including Francoise Sagan, Jean-Paul Sartre, Romy Schneider, Brigitte Bardot (who filmed the evocative dancing scene in And God Created Woman in the hotel bar), and, of course, Pablo Picasso. A “little paradise” away from the glitz and hubbub, it formed a crucial point of inspiration for The Azure Collection, which was shot on location at the hotel – offering a similar melding of artistic sensibility with the seductive promise of all-out leisure. For the month of July, an exclusive in-house pyjama menu will be available at Hôtel la Ponche.
