For Resort 2020, Olivia von Halle presents a collection inspired by the spellbinding landscapes of Hieronymus Bosch. Riffing on the mesmerising and perplexing subject matter and motifs of his ‘Garden of Earthly Delights’, the collection fizzes with an otherworldly energy.
Informed by Bosch’s use of opulent colour and arresting motifs, this season’s palette and prints are a wild amalgam of undulating botanicals, mythical lions and hypnotic eyes in deep neptune blue, shimmering pink lust and regal willow gold.
Personifying this season’s mood is muse, Donyale Luna. Frequently cited as ‘the first black supermodel’, Luna was muse to Andy Warhol and was a visionary and pioneer. When people asked where she was from, she would reply “I’m from the moon, Darling”.
Luna’s distinct and whimsical spirit is captured in this season’s expanded ready-to-wear offering. Voluminous sleeves, ribbon-tie bows and delicate covered buttons provide statement detailing around new and existing bias-cut silhouettes finished in signature 19 momme silk, sumptuous printed silk-velvet, metallic silver lurex and embroidered sheer silk organza.
